A hashtag for a title??…. what the hell is the matter with me? I guess it sounded better than “Life in a Yurt”, or “Yurt Trip”, or “Get Your Yurt On”. In any case, four white dudes ventured out into the High Uintas in search of an unforgettable winter recreation experience. With skis on their feet, and only the bare essentials in their packs (5+ liters of whiskey, 4 blocks of cheese, 6 sticks of meat, a 2lb tri-tip, and a few stogies), they braved the clear, sunny skies and moderate winter temps only to spend the next 2 nights in backcountry luxury. Yurtlife is extremely labor intensive; the daily chores of melting water, splitting wood, and preparing meals were crucial to survival. Fortunately, those tasks only took less than an hour per day to perform….so the the men enjoyed ample time to sunbathe, ski uphill, build jumps, imbibe spirits, and nap. The most challenging aspect about the whole experience was having only 2 bars of 3G cell reception; making Spotify-streaming a huge challenge. Not everyone is cut out for Yurtlife; but these men, raised in the suburbs of various mountainless states, were highly trained for the excursion. Failure was not an option.
