I got kind of sick of seeing 13.1 stickers on rear windshields. Like a half marathon is some sort of life-changing event worthy of bragging to everyone on the highway about? Paa-leese. The only way I could have a leg to stand on when I make fun of these people was to do it myself.
The run went really well. Matt and I stuck together for about 8 miles until I had to slow down a bit. We were just chatting it up and taking in the “scenery”. My whole goal was to have fun, so I made a conscious effort to keep smiling. It sounds kind of silly, but I really think that was the key to staying relaxed and posting a time I was proud of. I ended up keeping an 8:15 pace for a 1:48. Pretty stoked!
wow. hey man, nice work on the run. but why be a jerk and knock people for being proud of their accomplishment? it may be nbd to you, but for most people completing a half-marathon is something to be proud of.
You’re right. I shouldn’t knock people for running a half. I applaud anyone who does anything active, no matter how big or small. So I should tone it down a bit.
When I think about it, I guess I’m just more turned off by the stickers themselves. Same as the family stickers. Am I opposed to families? …not in the least. But c’mon, those stickers are silly.
I appreciate the comment, but at least type in your name.
You mean you didn’t get a 13.1 tattoo like I did?
